Hands stretched
Game face on
Smile, tongue out, blown cheeks or random
Click, click till the perfect shot – selfie
The Selfie Queen takes a self-painted portrait
Filtering out the blemishes of imperfection
And blending in a beauty society deems perfection
Self-promotion of the visual art of expression
Indeed a picture is worth a thousand words
So the queen shall speak her identification…beauty
The unfairly accused to be a cry for attention, giving girls a photocopied identity
But did they ever question the body behind the selfie?
Selfie queen
Beautiful on her own without peers in the scene
Confident as she lets the image define her existence
Declaring herself to be beautiful; taking ownership of her skin
Today she woke up; selfie, no makeup, no faking just real
Each mega pixel trying to capture God’s original seal
And like the parable of the talents she takes one beauty and returns with two more
The first, a version that holds the phone as her canvas and her face the Monalisa
Putting emotion, reaction, expectation, attention and presentation all in one picture
The second, a version most don’t get to see in the picture
An explanation that looking beautiful isn’t being beautiful
So by making her image and taking full control
Next time you see her face
Don’t judge her, don’t make assumptions because she is Queen of herselfie
She tells her story, she has control of herself and only shows you what she wants you to see
